After Opening Ceremonies, when we all heard Dr Frank Hayden give a stirring speech about the importance of Special Olympics, Mandy knew one thing – she just had to meet him and say thanks.
Dr Hayden is one of the founders of Special Olympics, and this summer games takes place in the very University where he studied. Here in London, he wrote his thesis on inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through sport, the same document that was used to establish the first Special Olympics Games in 1969.
Since then, we we all know how big Special Olympics has become, and how important it is to the people that we serve. If it wasn’t for Dr. Hayden it’s hard to believe that any of this would be possible today.
So on behalf of Special Olympics BC, we want to join Mandy in saying thanks to Dr. Frank Hayden.

THANK YOU DOCTOR HAYDEN FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR US IN SPECIAL OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
